Ricola
Swiss company founded in 1930 by Wilhelm Emil Richterich, who opened a confectionery factory, Richterich & Compagnie, in Laufen near Basel. In 1940 Richterich created the famous blend of 13 herbs that is still used today to produce herbal sweets. In 1967 Emil Richterich and his sons Hans Peter and Alfred founded Ricola AG in a new site in Laufen, where it is still based today. The 13 herbs are grown in areas of the Swiss mountains far from industry and traffic, following sustainable rotation practices without synthetic products. All sweets are produced in Switzerland, with the 13 herbs grown according to Bio Suisse standards in 5 carefully selected Swiss locations. Ricola now exports its products to over 50 countries and has added herbal teas and sugar-free sweets to its range.
