Mcusta
Company founded in 2000 in Seki City, with a name derived from "Machine Custom Knives", a concept that combines modern technology and traditional Japanese craftsmanship. The parent company is Marusho Industry, founded in 1964 in Seki, which began producing Mcusta knives in 2000 and in 2006 created the Zanmai brand dedicated to kitchen knives. Seki, located in Gifu prefecture, has been the centre of Japanese knife production since the 13th century, chosen for its abundant iron, charcoal and water, essential elements for forging high-quality cutting tools. Unlike most manufacturers, Mcusta does not use moulds to make its knives, but employs laser cutting and CNC machining with extreme precision, followed by assembly and hand finishing by highly skilled craftsmen. It uses Japanese steels such as VG-10 stainless and Aogami Super (Blue Steel), with handles in exotic woods, Micarta, aluminium and other quality materials.
